Soho Screening Room Installation

Private Screening Room Installation Soho, London

Wardour Street in Soho has been an iconic centre for the British film industry since the early 20th century. So naturally, when approached by a leading film company to install two screening rooms at this prestigious address, we jumped at the opportunity. These two screening rooms, identical in specification, were to be used temporarily during the production of one of the most well known TV series of all time. The first room would be used on a daily basis as a working space during production, and the second, slightly larger room would be used to hold private group screenings within the company. Stereo sound is generally used at this stage in film production before post sound production has taken place. Therefore, two Artcoustic SL Evolve 16-8s were used as left and right channels along with two Sub 3s behind the screen and two further Sub 2s were used at the rear of the room to provide a more immersive overall experience despite not having complete surround sound. Image at this stage in production is of paramount importance, so we opted for a Denon AVC-X4700H AV receiver to handle the direct inputs required paired with a Sony VPL-VW590ES 4K projector and 2.35:1 Screen Excellence screen. Control4 EA-1s were used to simplify the operation of each room along with custom programmed remote controls. Additional features included upholstered wall panels to help with the acoustics of the rooms and black out blinds to minimise any light interference. The first of these two screening rooms has since been dismantled and is en-route to a new location for another exciting project. The second will remain in Soho and become a small piece of British film making history…
